Hearing “oral presentation” as we all know is very daunting. I mean, absolutely no one likes the idea of standing up in-front of a group of people and having to deliver effortlessly the information.
As some of you may know, it hard ever works out like that.
I have listed 5 great tips to giving the perfect oral presentation.
1. Confidence
When presenting is is important even if you are nervous to look confident. By standing straight and trying not to tremble and keeping your head held high is a way to make you feel more confident.
Confidence also helps the delivery of the presentation, try not to speak quickly, slow it down, and remember to pace yourself.
2. Eye contact
Keeping eye contact with your listeners is a great way to engage them. Someone’s you won’t have the luxury of memorising the information so it is OK to have some neat notes in your hand.
3. Appearance
The way you dress says a lot about who you are. You don’t want to turn up to your presentation with a tracksuit on, or some trainers. Ensure you have clothing that matches the audience, so for example if you are presenting to business executives it would be best to wear a suit, but some situations will permit you to dress smart casual.
4. Research
Google is honestly your best friend. Most information that you need can be found online, and this is a great way to research. It is good to have knowledge on the topic you will be presenting, and even researching other people’s presentations on YouTube can be helpful.
5. Preparation
Preparation would be the key concept for me. By gathering materials and prepping what you will be delivering is beneficial to the presenter. You want to feel comfortable and at ease with the topic, so preparing yourself gives you the perfect chance to do that.
